It's connected and tight. There's an appreciation here for the math rock plague, for the thrashing without the screaming. There are wails and yawns, similar to the sonar dialogue between dolphins; its pressure and echo varies with the depth. There are layers upon layers, all waiting for exploration.

Peregrine is even more stately and impressionistic than its predecessor. I want to call this album "post-emo," as it blends the better traits of each genre-- emo's warmth but not its grating bombast; post-rock's ambition but not its obscurity-- allowing them to temper one another.

Although Peregrine isn't nearly as bad as Two Conversations, it still has quite a few faults. Some of the songs almost seem like The Appleseed Cast covers "insert generic indie band here"

There are definite high points such as "Silas' Knife," "Song 3," and a couple of the instrumental tracks; but other than that, the rest of the album was annoying and difficult to listen to all the way.
