One of punk rock's greatest joys is when group members interlock to the point of becoming a visceral, vibrating dance machine. London's Bloc Party achieve this manic bliss on nearly every track of their superb long-playing debut.  Full text...

If miracles are fantasies of the optimists and tamers are one whip-crack away from having their head taken off, then Okereke and Bloc Party are the realists crashing the world's gala of delusion.   Full text...

Take all your music throw it away. All you will ever need is in silent alarm. Every song every word, every beat. Powerful and danceable. Very orginal. One of those bands that hopefully will get big... but on the other hand may not ever get credit for what they have done... orginality.

cruiserbass Rating: 8.0

one of the best albums i've heard, if you actually look into the lyrics you can unravel tales of life...very powerful. one of the ebst bands to come out of britain, lets hope they stay that way.

danceless Rating: 7.0

some lyrics confusing, yet chatchy. beats are excellent and dancable. dont try to sing lyrics in public...they dont make sense and you'll look retarded. But buy the cd to rock to at midnight.

i love this album, having had it from when it was first released.
the lyrics are quiet confusing but it makes it more interesting trying to figure out the meaning. they music is so origonal and never becomes dull. lets hope theres many more albums to come.

An absolute must have cd... It will change you mind on how you listen to music. Certainly the best album of 2005'06 and the album has such high engery wanting more and more and you will dance INTIL THE SUN GOES DOWN!

Music was slipping away. Franz Ferdinand were slowing down and Arctic Monkeys still a few months away. Who shall step in to save British indie? Enter four men from East London by the name of Bloc Party. They gave us the ripping joy of 'Banquet', the delicate beats of 'This Modern Love' and the phenominal anti-Bush rant 'Helicopter'.
Today, after 'A Weekend In The City', this album still sounds as unbelievable as it did two years ago. If you haven't already then buy this album - you never have (and probarbly never will) hear anything like it!

When I first listen to the cd I was amazed that Bloc Party became my favourite band ever, My fav song is probably Like Eating Glass but I came to liking every single song on the cd and I would give them all 10/10. My least fav song on the cd tho is Price Of Gas but it has a good beat and everything :). GOT TO LOVE BLOC PARTY!
