Actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, daughter of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, has teamed up with Air, Neil Hannon and Jarvis Cocker to write 5:55. Produced by Nigel Godrich, it is a wistful concoction of whispery vocals and twinkling musical arrangements.

This is her really debut album. A great chill-out, pop-folk, piano-pop album. In fact, this is one of the few albuns that don't bore you. Ever. Everything seems so pure, clean and lean. Actually, it's too perfect. Just because she needs to stay away from the shadows of her parents. She has no own style - even her voice is a copy of her mother's. If She wants to be big in music, first she has to be Charlotte and not following the same roads that hre parents walk on. Nevertheless, this album is quite good and the lyrics are just breath-taking.
Well, we still hope that there will a next album with a little more identity to it. But, for now, lay down and forget the world and create your own,listening to the soft voice of Charlotte and the emotionally intensity of the songs that walk together with her. |
