Cornell’s second solo album is as rugged a record as you would expect from the former singer of the grunge chestbeaters Soundgarden and Audioslave.

Cornell says of the album that he wanted to really stretch himself and experiment – and there’s plenty of evidence of him doing so.

Bafflingly mediocre offering from formerly superb ex-Soundgarden and Audioslave vocalist.

This is a great album that would fit in with anyone's collection, regardless of your main music taste. Of course All Chris Cornell fans will again be impressed with Chris' solo work, and I know most of us are happy to see him return to what he does best, writing and doing songs on his own, that are not political, but simply classic, soulful songs. You can preview the entire album on myspace.com/chriscornell. Also, don't forget to check out Chris' version of Billie Jean and also check his website chriscornell.com for his latest tour dates. The tour is one not to be missed, as he plays hits from Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave as well as his solo albums. Pick up this CD today, and enjoy! |

Sounds like all the other low rated reviews being posted lately are taking quite a stab at Cornell for not raging at the sun or screaming about poisonous snakes. Cornell's style has always been founded on his soul rock roots so I don't know why anyone is surprised here. I guess they didn't check out Euphoria Morning or Revelations which almost gives them no right to review this album. This seems to reflect more the desire the modern rock media has to consistently pin someone down to a genre rather than just review from an unbiased viewpoint. We should be commending Cornell for going where he wants to go while knowing full well he stands in the shadow of so many past successes. Change is good. Besides, how much heavier and dark can one get than Shadow of the Sun. |

I agree that Carry On shouldn't be compared to other projects that Chris has done in the past. This new solo album stands in its own right and I think the eclectic mix of sounds are great to listen to. |

I highly recommend this album. Now that almost a month has gone by, it has really sunk in with me. There are so many great songs. All of them have gotten stuck in my head at one time or another. His sound is ever-evolving, it doesn't have to fit into a certain box. Chris is an artist who has a lot of different ideas and he tries them, he doesn't hold them back because they don't fit someone's idea of him, and I can't wait to hear what music comes out of him next. Sometimes he surprises me, and I love that! |
