Are You Listening? is more of a confirmation that some things -- The Cranberries included -- might not be quite as great as we remembered.

Like most of the album, lead single "Ordinary Day" sounds like a super-varnished Cranberries song, and her lyrical weaknesses become even more visible through the spit-polished sheen, revealing one horribly banal couplet after the next, some of which don't even rhyme.

There are some bright moments, namely Loser, which catches the attention with a razor-sharp hook, and final track, Ecstasy, is a slow burner that shows a gentler side, but it's hardly been worth the wait.

In my opinion... Her solo album is very good... It has some very nice songs, such as: "In the garden" "Loser" "Black Widow" "stay with me" "october"... "when we were young"!! She has the style of Cranberries of course but why not? She made Cranberries what they were!! Its her style... I can not imeagine her in other style... She has one of the most special voices!! Everybody who dabble at music [at least] he recognize her voice!!!!! I hope her album will have acceptance... because she deserve it!! |
