By the way he's been talking you half expect him to have pulled a complete 180 on his latest album, suddenly sounding like Slayer.

This time around the drum machine has been replaced with spacious soundscapes of glacial instrumentation, string sections, brass and harmonicas.

"Slow Motion" takes a while to build, but once there, the chorus is a thing of beauty- an ultra-dramatic crescendo of strings and horns, with a sparse slide guitar and Gray's blistering high-end above it all.

No, this album will not grab you by the balls, shake you violently and demand you listen, it gently nudges you awake on a Sunday morning and provides you with a soundtrack for your day; a backbeat of pure joy and expression.

As for the rest, it's mostly background music, but it's heartfelt background music, and the warmth makes all the difference.

Life In Slow Motion doesn't have much in that instant anthem vein, but at least merits repeat hearings and works better as a whole album rather than a collection of singles.

"Nos Da Cariad" and "The One I Love" are the best songs ever. I discovered him with "Please Forgive Me" and I saw him in concert in Montreal and my gosh, what an artist...This guy is awesome... |

"Slow Motion" is very moving and a great song to do a lyrical dance to. I love David Gray's voice and the notes he holds in this song. Not only this song, but all the songs on his CD are great. |
