The group's latest album has all the plot twists you would expect in an action-packed hourlong teen drama, complete with heartache, unmitigated jubilation and tons of contemplation.

It's a holding pattern album, for sure, but there aren't too many bands that can tread water with the grace that Death Cab does

So, in musical terms, some things have changed and some remain the same. The result is a rather fine, creatively mature album

It would be nice if a band reaching for a larger audience had a sound that matched that sense of ambition.

Although Plans is mostly solid, it won't make you forget that upstart band they once were, lulling us into hypnosis instead of soundtracking teen drama.

There's no reason Death Cab for Cutie shouldn't keep trying to expand their signature sound. But as the strongest moments on Plans prove, their signature sound hasn't run out of things to say yet

There are plenty of more valid reasons the album's probably not worth your time.

Love may indeed be stronger than death, but Plans will not be a work destined to endure across the ages -- or even past next season's OC, for that matter.

That’s pretty far from appealing enough to warrant a second sampling

Songs like "Soul Meets Body," "I will follow you into the dark," "Your heart is an empty room," "What Sarah Said" and "Brothers on a hotel bed" are all very touching and endearing. Death Cab's unique sound remains present and the lyrics are nothing to be ashamed about. They are better poets than 90% of artists out there. And how many albums really have over 50% of songs that one can listen to over and over again? Following up TransAtlantism was a near impossibility. In Plans, Death Cab nearly achieves that amazing feat. |

Simply amazing album. You will find yourself listening to songs like "I will follow you into the dark" and "crooked teeth" over and over again. |

WOW. What can I say about 'Plans'? Death cab's best yet! The indulgent voice of Bem gibbard is put to good use in the powerful songs on the album. The much loved 'I will follow you into the dark' has already met it's share of success and other tracks such as the rock- based 'Crooked Teeth', 'Soul meets body' and 'Your heart is an empty room' are no doubt headed for the billboards. Death cab's reminisent vocals and heartfelt melodies are sure to caputre your heart as they have mine. I reccomend this timeless album to anyone, any age, anywhere. If you thought transatlantasicim was as good as it was gonna get... you were so wrong. |

This album is stunning. Still being a a relatively "new" death cab fan, all i can say is WOW. Every song on this album simply captivates me. 'What Sarah Said' bring me to tears. And 'Different Names for the Same Thing' helps me get my groove on. I could sit here for an hour and type out all the wonders of this album, but I wont. All I have to say is, this is simply amazing work. |

Plans is just a breath-taking album. Songs like "Brothers on a Hotel Bed" and "What Sarah Said" will give you chills, make you want to cry, but also make you want to sing along and smile. Then there are the catchy, up beat songs in the album like "Crooked Teeth" and "Soul Meets Body", which are equally beautiful. Even though Plans is fantabulous, I think I prefer Transatlanticism. |
