A little tension can be a good thing in a relationship -- and sometimes, a lot can be even better. It seems to work for Deftones, anyhow.  Full text...

It's a weird blend of viscerally shaking (hopped-up slashers like "The Earth"), artfully alluring ("Beware," which has cricket sound effects) and unfocused oblivion ("Cherry Waves").   Full text...

Saturday Night Wrist has the Deftones improving on all fronts, whether it’s Moreno’s stirring vocal work or the band’s improved versatility (listen to the instrumental “u,u,d,d,l,r,l,r,a,b,select, start” for proof).  Full text...

They’re not—and never will be—a connoisseur’s band, but for suburban middle school kids starting to get tired of their generation’s version of the same old radio crap, the Deftones point the way to intriguing alternatives. Whether those kids realize it or not is a different matter.   Full text...

From their debut album, Adrenaline, to their most recent, Saturday Night Wrist is yet again another Deftones classic. Think about it, every album changes a personality, it's like different sides of the Deftones. Each album has that Deftone-sound. Of course Chino differs his vocals in each of the albums, but what makes unique is that it's still him.

The album had a wonderfully dark atmosphere, and I enjoyed all the songs. They were very soothing to say the least. This album, compared to previous was more mellow, but was still just as driven and creative.

Saturday Night Wrist is no different from any other album, and that similarity in itself is godly as music's incarnate and dubbed sac-town's own DEFTONES.

its the classical Deftones aLbum with a chick in the cover...just like the Around the Fur formula...the songs are alright..i guess its just a matter of time that it becomes a jeweL of metaL rocK...gotta listen to it a lot more!!!!

I love this album. I wasnt much a Deftones fan to begin with. I liked "Change (in the House of Flies)", but when I heard this album i was hooked. The only thing I dont like are the two "punkish" eratic songs, "Rapture," and "Rats Rats Rats." They are too crazy and eratic for me. But the rest....GO DEFTONES!! Keep 'em commin!

Fantastic! Dark, melodic, lunatic, this is what it is:)

The new album is fantastic. Very much in style with their previous albums. Very impressive drums and bass lines make this my second favorite Deftones album (the self titled 2003 release has to be my all time favorite). The only song I'm not too pleased with is Mein. If I'm not mistaken, Serj from SOAD did some vocals in that song and it really threw it off for me. Otherwise a great album.

VERY VERY VERY disappointed...This album doesn't come close to measuring up to previous ones. What happened to the all-out face melting deftones sound (ie. 7 words, birthmark, back to school, passenger, bored, engine number 9, My own summer, etc.)??? Everyones gone soft and rock is dying slow...Come on guys...Keep rock alive!!!

100% pure Deftones... This album is right up there with Around the Fur, and White Pony. GREAT ALBUM

Not the best deftones album I've heard but certainly good on it's own. I was a little disappointed to not hear too much of any heavy stuff, but I like the feel they're bringing to the table this time around. Deftones has changed a lot during the times, since their selftitled album, I haven't seen anything like the previous ones anymore.

Some would say that it's for the worse, but change is always welcome in my book. Different, but not bad is what I say. Actually wanted to give a 7.5 but no possibility here, so 7 will have to do.

Maybe the their best effort since the White Pony album.. very dark but mellow.. a soothing breakaway from the traditional metal sound.

Its a good album, it shows the original musical style from deftones, its one of few bands that keep with their one sound. It reminds me to around the fur album.

it is soooo sad i had to rate it six. been a fan since i was twelve and have to say i am the biggest fan. cheno got throat cancer and had to tone it down i know.. but it barely sounds like all of the other albums i still listen though for the sake of loving deftones.

Every deftones album is great, chinos lyrics are always mysterious and deep with vocals that amplify this and so does the music, saturday night wrist has a dark feeling to the whole thing i love it! love the drums!

Dammit! A New Atmosphere to Float in! I'm wondering why people shoot dope or go for cokes and stuff...

cant ya find Deftones in the shops?

jimma Rating: 10.0

Dark, moving, BOLD, outside the lines in a good way, its good to see a good band not sucking like korn haha

Just saw deftones last nite at Niagra falls and they played the best set of any band I've ever seen. They played about 16 tracks going through the albums from around the fur, adrenaline, self titled, saturday night wrist, and then back to white pony stuff.

I am a picky listener and most bands disapoint me with new albums,, theyve lost something or switched to a new genre that I cant get into. Deftones have alway been deftones to me and this album proves that. The perfection of Chino's voice when screaming out more frantic songs like Rats! Rats! Rats! or Rapture is meticulous even while its chaotic. After years of fanship my mind holds a clip of Chino screaming next to the definition of anger in my mental dictionary. Hole in the Earth strays a bit from what I would consider to be a conventional album sticker song (you know "featuring thier new hit 'hole in the earth') but it offered something to the album that gave it substance in the context of looking at deftones work in terms of every song theyve written instead of analyzing one album "I hate all of my friends" And who hasnt felt that way sometimes?

Mr Bacon 666 Rating: 10.0

"Rapture" and "Rats! Rats! Rats!" are the best tracks by these guys. Heavy and vulgar. However, "Pink Cellphone" sucked ass at the last minute but this a great album. "Hole In the Earth" is great as well.
