Musically Dear and the Headlights reminds me a great deal of early records by The Cure like Boys Don’t Cry or even Head on the Door. Dear and the Headlights have honed a catchy, acoustic based sound that shows hints of Goth influence.

Its debut is little more than juvenile emo-drama dressed up in indie-esque pop instead of the punk-based sound, a move that doesn't make the he-said, she-said coming out of Dear and the Headlights' mouths any more mature. It's somehow a little more awkward than if the band took the standard juvenile pop-punk route, mostly because the pretense attached to the whole affair.
