Self-recorded, Nebraska-style, in a hotel room on the North Carolina coastline, To The Races more often evokes Iron & Wine than Springsteen, but the end result is still quite lovely. Stripped down to nothing more than a guitar, vocals and a few harmonies, the album is quiet and fragile, exposing a side of Bachmann that will shock Archers fans and please Crooked Fingers devotees.
