For those looking for a nostalgic trip, this is a great ticket, but I can’t help but feel that many of those folks might be more inspired to go back through their own collections rather than get hooked on Cape Fear itself.

Germans pluck from a smorgasbord of influences of which just about every underground-rock connoisseur will approve, but Cape Fear usually comes off as no more than a collection of its parts. It's a start, but Germans will need to move past the mix'n'match phase and tighten down influences if they intend to seriously challenge indie's infatuation with nice-guy pop.
