Terrible record. Listened to it 4 times, I cannot believe some of the reviews I'm reading which seem to talk around the record and focus on Stefani's charisma much the same way Stefani herself evades memorable hooks, inspired arrangements and other hallmarks of vital music (by the way, whatever happened to serious rock journalism?). I was won over by her and her band's Return to Saturn record but since then she scored a rap/pop hit with Eve in a genre that isn't exactly her niche. And since that lucky fluke hit she has recorded in that vain, coming off like she's everyone's best friend, happily walking the line between celebrity and competent entertainer (sort of) as if she never had any dreams of artistic vitality. The Sweet Escape is another pointless, garbage in that vain, I'm sure it will get titan airplay while the majority of vital pop music continues to get ignored.

Gwen could have definitely done better. She's an awesome artist and I was very disappointed that I spent my money on it. Her first solo album was awesome, but this one sounded like she definitely rushed to get it out. There are 3 good/ok songs and one of her songs ("Breakin Up") has an amazing beat, but as soon as she sings, it ruins the whole song because her melody/lyrics do not go with it at all. I'm sorry Gwen. I love you and I'm a big fan, but you should have concentrated on your CD a little more and come up with better songs.

The only song I have heard is "Wind It Up". The song has a nice beat to it, but the fact that part of the song is from Sound of Music ruins it. I have much respect for Sound of Music, and because she took it to make her song it shows me that she is not an original artist. The rating I put is generous compared to how I feel about her.

I love it. I hate hearing music thats all the same. its nice to actually have something different to listen to. Gwen is amazing. She exceeds in everything she does, and this album is nothing less than an "8" on the ratings scale. At first, I do admit when i first heared 'wind it up' on the radio I was like, "what the heck. this couldnt be gwen" But now that I own the cd and listen to the other tracks it just flows. I hope her next cds will just keep getting better.

This album is definitely atypical compared to Gwen's older No Doubt CD's. I never had anything against Gwen until she became a soloist. I'm always open to change, but she seems so conceited and arrogant. The songs lyrically speaking are all the same and it's disappointing. (Frankly, I'm also surprised that she received a "parental caution" sticker on her CD! At least in the mall I saw that sticker on her albums...) I give this a 2 just for the fact that she doesn't mind sounding different. I just wish that she would expand more lyrically. The whole album just annoys me, and thank you to anyone who bothered to read this whole opinion. *I don't mean to affront anyone who liked this album and I have nothing against anyone who likes Gwen Stefani. It's only a mere opinion.*

I think this album is great. Just a bit better than love.angel.music.baby. I dont understand why people are all hatein on her just because it sounds different to the other stuff thats out there. I think that its great that she added some Sound of Music stuff it sounds great. I just think she sould have put more tracks because once i had finaly got to (dont get it twisted) the cd was ending. I think putting something as frustrating as your phone dieing to a fabulous beat is great. Gwen i needed more tracks to dance to after yummy they should have been at least 3 more dance tracks besides the ones already there.I loved the rave beat on dont get it twisted i think she should have carried it on because i love it!!!!! Also i noticed that she sings alot about her hubby. I love the fact that she is so in love! PLEASE i hope she does another record this one is fabulous!! Basicaly the only problem is not enough tracks and its not weird enough. She should have hired me as a producer to work with the neptunes. LUV THE ALBUM !!!! It hasnt left my cd player!

This album is amazing but you won't like it first time you listen to it... Gwen is the only artist out there with guts to yodel in a dance track. "Now that you got it" and "Don't get it twisted" also puts me in the mood to dance. "Yummy" left me speechless in a good way (but I had to listen to it some times to realy like it). "Fluorescent" and "U started it" are growers and also amazing ones. She shows her feelings on "early winter" , "4 in the morning" and "wonderful life" with catchy sounds and clever lyrics. "Breaking up" is the weakest track... it's good but it doesn't fit this album. The best track is "sweet escape"... so catchy, so beautiful, so gwen... I prefer No Doubt stuff a lot but I think you should give this one a try... ;)

Hey I really Love The Album. I think that L.A.M.B And The Sweet Escape sound diffrent is beause of the diffrent beats and it sounds a lot better then the other album. This album bring a lot of Hop Hip And R&B sounds and so Pop and i love the song The Sweet Escape which it her new sing off the album and i also love the song Yummy and Dont Get It Twisted and Wind It Up. Overal This Album Was Really Awsome and one more thing CJ Suck it up just because gwen went solo your just being a winning s**t. No Dout is getting back together so just suck it up.

To each his own, as it has been stated before. I personally believe that the song "wind it Up" is fabulous. It mixes several different genre's and is without doubt very unique. I love it, and because it's different I'm sure she's not expecting everyone to like it. In my opinion it's wonderful because it's fun party music, I love party music. Good job Gwen you've done it again. :D

Okay.. Sure, it's no LAMB, and at a first listen you probably think "what the hell did I just buy..? o.o". Yeah.. you'll get a pretty negative opinion on the album. Give it a little a chance however and the album isn't as bad as many say it is. If you listen to it without comparing it to her previous one or thinking how much better it was you'll see that it's a pretty decent album, just not as hard hitting as her first. I do believe gwen could have done a better job on this but hell... it's a pretty funky album anyway.

I want that 50mins back

This album was nothing more or less than an approximate waste of 50 minutes and 30 seconds of my life, and I want them back. I loved LAMB, such a great album it was, but this is a huge disappointment. I'm still a fan of Gwen, but this is THE WORST album I have bought this year. The only song I liked straight away was Early Winter, This is the only great song on the album. However, if you listen to them more, a select few of the songs might start to grow on you like they did me. Wind It Up, Orange County Girl, Fluorescent, and Wonderful life. But even now that I like them more, it's more of a guilty pleasure and these songs are barely "just ok". You can tell that the album was rushed and most of the songs were written for LAMB but were "rejected", in search of a better word, from being included in LAMB. I guess that she got caught up in her own hype for LAMB and couldn't be bothered to write a lot of new, decent material, thinking this dross would be good enough. And even though I am a fan, I can't help but think that for this reason she's becoming arrogant. As I said, she definitely got caught up in her own hype. This CD wreaks of "Gwen needs to get back to No Doubt" and FAST! (but not too fast or that album will be as bad as this one!) How ironic that this album is aptly named "The Sweet Escape", as we can all share this experience through the employment of the Stop button :)

Gwen has proven she grows and changes as an artist. No Doubt is a group and Gwen is only a portion of that group. You shouldn't expect Gwen as a solo artist to sound like No Doubt. Having said that, I welcome her departure from the rock sound of No Doubt. I love No Doubt but this proves she is not just another lead singer who leaves the band in a lame attempt to copy the sound of the band that made her famous. This album is catchy and grows on you. Admittedly, "Wind It Up" is unique but not bad. She took a chance as an artist and I for one appreciate that. I don't want to hear recycled No Doubt or L.A.M.B. Way to go, Gwenny Gwen Gwen!

Well, I have to say, I think I enjoyed her last album "Love. Angel. Music. Baby." a little more than "The Sweet Escape". I think she leaned more towards a more hip-hop, r&b, techno version rather the more pop version in her last album. This change can sometimes be dangerous for some artists, but it definately worked for Gwen. Amazing.

"Love.Angel.Music.Baby." was one thing....this is quite another. I am utterly disappointed with this album. I don't know if Gwen was in a rush to put a new album out or what, but it's terrible. The Sweet Escape is a pretty decent song with pretty good lyrics. But it's the only one worth listening to. My advice: cover your ears and beg for mercy.

Gwen stefani is probally one of the Best Female Artists Out today in our time. I see her being around for a long time. Her voice is amazing on every track. its fun. its catchy. Lamb was good. No doubt was good. Everything she does is amazing. i think she likes to be Diffrent and people shouldnt use that against her. At least everything dont sound the same. And As for no doubt. They clearly went more and more POP with every Album, So its only natural shes a Pop Singer now. Stop Hatin!

I was a huge No Doubt fan and still am. I was disapointed to hear that they were splitting for a while so Gwen could go solo but after hearing LAMB I actually really liked it, it was fun and a different sound from No Doubt but still catchy and enjoyable. I loved her new style and bought some of her LAMB clothing as well. But, this new or supposidly "old" obsession with The Sound of Music is ridiculous. The Sweet Escape is no fun, and is just plain boring. I think she should do like Wind It Up says and WIND UP her solo career before all her No Doubt fans grow up and move on.

This album is up and down. I seriously wasn't expecting this album to be good at all but I hated "Wind It Up". It was such a typical song that I was appaled that she even made it. I mean what happen to songs that actually meant something like "What You Waiting For", "Cool" and "Hollaback Girl" (Ok that last one not so much, well alittle if you recall her story on it). This album was just so far left that she lost touch with the fan base that made her Gwen Stefani. Sure, she's saving the rock tunes for the No Doubt cd. Ok, understandable but don't underestmate the fans that bought that first No Doubt cd. Sure, it's ok to experiment but don't go so far left that the fan can't recognize the authanticty of the voice. I give it a 7 for going out on a limb and doing something different but it's a low seven because alot of these songs are meaningless. Actually Good Songs on the Cd: Early Winter U Started It 4 In the Morning Wonderful Life Don't Get It Twisted (It's about her baby.) i like...4 songs out of the 12...the sweet escape...early winter...4 in the morning...and wonderful life...the other ones have great beats...just the lyrics...mess them up...i think she focused more on the pregnancy then the album...i expected more from gwen after her l.a.m.b cd...but i guess all good things must come to an end...this pop thing isn.t going at all with her...if she wanted to become solo...she should have tried rock...i.m disappointed in saying this...but paris hilton.s cd is way better than this...

I don't get why people love her. She is extremely conceited. She isn't a good role model, either. Doesn't she know that most of her fans are pre-teen girls? She's not a very good example when she's all swearing and being hoochie. Her voice is horrible, especially live. she's also very immature, and her songs (besides the lyrics) sound like baby songs. She is not very talented in my opinion.
