The album is actually pushed into a completely different direction from the sound of any group the band members play in. The reason for this being, and Chad Gray put it perfectly by saying “We just wanted to throw down and do something that came from the heart and was all for fun and for the love of making music.” What developed from this mindset was a sonically diverse range of tunes, everything from a pummeling, riff-filled powerhouse to a melodic country-themed song about alcohol.  Full text...

It is a good album to put in, crank up, and rock to, but if you are looking for something a little deeper, a little more experimental or edgy, you would be best served to look elsewhere. If you are a fan of Paul or Gray, definitely seek this out, but keep your expectations in check. Let this one wash over you without thinking too hard about it.  Full text...

Vinnie Paul puts in an excellent performance on drums, but the other musicians do not stand out as well. The only track that stands out as different is "Alcoholin' Ass" for its country-tinged sound. The album has some decent tracks, but overall, Hellyeah sounds like any other mainstream rock/metal album out today.  Full text...

Hell Yeah is straight ahead metal with a southern flavor, even though most of the band members aren't from the south. This CD is really a mixed bag. The strongest songs are the uptempo party songs that have an old school vibe. The ballads are not good at all, and when they try to get too extreme it also falls short.  Full text...

There's nothing guaranteed to strike fear into the heart of the good taste police more than a heavy metal supergroup; the place where bloated egos crash against one another, hurtling toward irrelevance. Comprising members of Pantera, Mudvayne and, erm, Nothingface, this has all the studded-leather credentials. Hellyeah score points by playing the whole thing for laughs and taking us on a high-octane assault of machine-gun drums and chainsaw riffs on the title track 'GodDamn'.  Full text...

The latest 'supergroup' project featuring members from Mudvayne, Nothingface, and Pantera's own Vinnie Paul. A great idea that gets lost just as quick as it was found.  Full text...

People who go into this CD expecting Pantera, you will be disappointed. Too bad Pantera doesn't even exist anymore. Get over it. Be glad that Vinnie is back and doing just what he does, bang on shit! He carries this CD almost on his own, Chad Gray's vocals are exactly where I wanted them, old school Mudvayne. Cheesy at times, yes, but have you listened to Mudvayne ever? The guitars are excellent, no they're not Dimebag caliber, but they fit this project very well and. Overall, if you are a Mud fan or a Vinnie Paul fan, this is a must have. The band plays very tight, with Vinnie's tempo flawless, of course. In my opinion, "Matter Of Time", Nausea", "God Damn" and "Star" are heads above the rest.
