It can be a bit of a Sword of Damocles, being hotly tipped by arty rock souls like Jarvis Cocker. The buzz created when you release your debut album after two years is great, and comparisons with Pulp help smooth over the diverse musical influences from track to track.

The dynamic and well-honed electronic pop music of Antony Genn and Martin Slattery is confrontational, worn and lived-in, but ultimately rather comforting. It's nice to know that people are still as pissed off as this, but equally able to slap a decent tune together to convey that anger in a disarming fashion.

Mostly it's tuneful, pleasant stuff with plenty of drive-time appeal. Indeed, as the album wears on, pianos and balladry come to the fore in a manner that pits The Hours as a rival to Keane, Coldplay, Snow Patrol and other popular, boring, mid-market bands big on song-craft and wistful platitudes.
