If not a beginning to end classic album, it's full of potential classic tracks.

Even with her third CD, we still know little about young soul singer Joss.

Joss Stone is a nineteen-year-old Brit with a huge voice that packs grit and diva-tude beyond its years. There are a couple of moments on Stone's third album when she clobbers a melody with enough showy vocal oomph to make even Christina Aguilera fans squirm.

Sound bad? If it was bad, Introducing would at least be interesting. In fact, nothing here (well, nothing that doesn’t have Vinnie Jones in it) dips beneath the level of competence – not even the soul-sapping hack ballad-eering of Diane Warren’s Bruised but not Broken.

The apparent contradiction in the title of Stone's third album hints at an underlying truth, as her career seems to be proceeding in reverse. Her Soul Sessions debut of rare soul covers is the kind of thing established artists do to span a songwriting shortfall, while this ho-hum collection sounds like the groundwork for 2004's Mind, Body and Soul. Worse, as her profile rises, her work loses more of its individual character: just as US residence wore her Devonian accent down into bland transatlanticisms, so it has eroded the very characteristics that made her work special.

Introducing Joss Stone may seem a weird title for the singer's third album, but not according to Ms Stone herself. See, she wasn't much of a fan of her first two albums, and Introducing... promises, rather portentously, that "this is who I am as an artist".

We need no more introductions to Joss Stone. Until she finds her true voice, she'll remain for now a casual acquaintance rather than dear friend.

She has talent to burn, but rather than challenge herself, Stone has chosen to throw herself on a multi-million dollar bullet train to the centre of mediocrity.

I'm liking the album.. I'm LOVING "Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now" "Arms Of My Baby" "Girl they Won't Believe It" and "Put Your Arms Around Me"..
I think she did a good job with this album.. It's kind of like Mind, Body and Soul. That's what I didn't like about it.. I was expecting something different. Because no album from the same artist should be alike.... Well besides the genre....
But overall it's good.. A Ganrentee sleeper.. Which is good. When you need to calm down..
And it has a couple of tracks that can make you happy.. |

I think the album is honest and beautiful. Joss has a gorgeous voice and I love her new hair!! The songs are true and this is her best album b/c all the songs have something to do with her life. I LOVE IT!!! |

I think Joss is a great singer. She kind of reminds me of a more souler, punkier (is that a word?) type of Christina Aguilera. I love the song "Tell Me Bout It." |

I think that Joss Stone is a good singer but I wonder where she came from because I don't know much about her.I just know that every song on her album ROCKS! |

This album is fanatstic to me! I think it's amazing how such a young person can have such a mature voice and excellent control! Some of my faves was "Tell me what we're gonna do now", "Put your hands on me", "Musc", "Arms of my baby", "headturner" (I loved the line from "Respct"!) and "What were we thinking"... |

You know what I love most about this album? The uniquness of it. It's full 70's soul that hasn't been heard in this generation. Although I do think that vocally, she can do much more. But I do love the ease and relaxed feel when I listen to her. Like it's effortless. |
