What hasn’t changed is the underlying influences that guide Jet’s music. The Rolling Stones, the Beatles by way of Oasis, and fellow countrymen AC/DC are all honored throughout Shine On. British hard rock and a harmony-rich wall of psychedelic sound make for a bigger, better, more diverse mission this time out.  Full text...

Shine On shows the growth of Jet, as well shows the more mature musical side the band has gained since 2003.   Full text...

Jet are at their best in the high power-riff gear of "Stand Up" and "Rip It Up" (not the Little Richard hit), with singer-guitarist Nic Chester barking and bawling like an improbable trinity of Liam Gallagher, Bon Scott and Axl Rose.  Full text...

It's trad-rock ordinaire, yet something lifts it out of the ordinary: its cheek, maybe, or its freewheeling vitality, or the occasional musical surprise it springs.  Full text...

So perhaps it's just as well that Jet aren't trying too hard to broaden their approach beyond the meat'n'spuds blues-rock with which they made their name, and of which they have a firmer grasp on this effort. There'll always be a demand for well-wrought, blue-collar raunch-rock, and the Stones can't fulfill it forever. Can they?  Full text...

Do Jet have much of a future? According to one esteemed music criticism website, which posted a YouTube video of a monkey drinking its own urine as a review of "Shine On", it would appear not. A flippant piece of comedy, but even so the message for Jet has to be the one our simian ancestors faced millennia ago. Evolve or die.  Full text...

A blurry photocopy of Get Born, with a few more effects and slightly cleaner production, Shine On loses steam right after the okay single "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is," petering out at a rate that begs the question: why 15 tracks?   Full text...

My parents grew up listen to big rock bands like Led Zepplin and Black Sabbith. I think Jet is going to the band I remember when I get older so I can show them to my kids like my parent did to me.

This song transports me to a time of better rock n'roll. GO JET!

i love this album, love every song on it , i listen too this cd 5 times a day thats how good it is. Alot better than "Get Born" even thou Get Born is a really good rock album. It has good messages in it too. They did change there sound a bit but not to much there still the same old band "Jet" A great rock album. Can't wait until they make a another album! i really like too see them in a concert too.

KEEP ROCK N' ROLL BABY!!!!!!!

Not the single quality of "Get Born" but as a whole I love this album. "Shine On" the song tops any ballad that they have put out yet and is my favorite track. Keep Rocking Boys!!

After a shaky start, [Shine On] really represents JET's no non-sense rock and roll style. "Hey Kids" and "Rip It Up" take after songs like "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" on [Get Born]while they reveal a new side to their magic with "Bring It On Back" and "Shiny Magazine", my favorite on the album except for "Shine On", which could very easily be the next chart topper. JET owns all bands besides The Beatles!!!

Hmm...not the best album I've ever heard...not too bad either. I don't like it as a whole as much as I enjoyed "Get Born". I think it's because with their debut, they were new and "exciting". With "Shine On", their musical performance seems to have improved but in my opinion they have suffered lyrically a little. I'm glad I bought the album and I have listened to it a lot since, but I have a feeling I will grow tired of it before long and it will be left on the shelf for a while.
My favourite song would probably be "Rip It Up".

I'm really shocked at how some critics are saying negative things about the band's maturity & musical growth on "Shine On." Now if JET made an exact copy of "Get Born" the critics would have complained that they have no diversity or new tricks. There's no winning... except with true fans. "Shine On" is an amazing album that is destined to be considered a masterpiece. Every single song is excellent (except "All You Have To Do," which is just average) and shows JET's genius!

Well done! Jet has definitely grown into an even better and more mature Rock Band, despite what these critics are saying. With Shine On we get a spin into these new awesome sounding tunes as well as a hint of some of the old classics we all know and love. While Get Born still remains my favorite, Shine On grants us sweet rock n' roll only Jet could uniquely diliver.

Jet is amazing. Nothing can compare to seeing them before they became big....when there were only a handful of people at the show, and all but a few of us were there to see the high school opening acts.

Josh Rating: 7.0

Jet is back with a good effort. now I agree that since some of their music has gotten softer, areanas may not be as packed out, but i like this stuff plain and simple. I dont think it has damaged them as a band by any means, at least they can do different styles of music and actually play it well. 7 out of 10, keep rockin Jet

This album is awesome, the lyrics of 'Shine On' are beautiful. I saw them live a few days ago and they were incredible! Keep up the good work Jet, I'll keep wearing my Jet t-shirt!

JET is my favourite band for many reasons. They're just raw hard rock without the depressing "edge" that many bands have today. They're not very dramatic, but they're not insensitive either. Their music consists of very hard, thrashing kinds of songs, like "Rip It Up" and also very melodic songs, like "King's Horses." They actually know what they're doing in terms of musical composition and evolution. They are a wonderful combination of the best classic bands, like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, and The Kinks; the listener can really hear how they want to keep that classic sound alive, especially in the album "Shine On." They are really blossoming as a band and as composers and I will listen to them for as long as I live.

Who cares what the big hit critics say there like " they should be like this they should be like that" Jet are what they are and its there choice. In all of our eyes jet are a hard rock band with grunt and determination. I dont know about you but thats what makes a real rock band. I love Jet and no-one can change that.
Go Aussie rock!!!
