On the album's best tracks, Fiasco masterfully melds his peerless storytelling gifts with his idiosyncratic passion for skateboarding, fantasy, and incisive sociopolitical commentary.

From the sonic grooves of Daydream (produced by Craig Kallman) featuring the beautiful voice of Jill Scott, to the Spanish grooves that compliment Lupe’s observation of America on American Terrorist featuring Matthew Santos, Soundtrakk, Prolyfic and the rest do an astounding job of elevating the album from just lyrically inclined to instant classic status.

Endorsed by Kanye West and Jay-Z (who executive produces), the skateboarding rapper now brings an album that combines nutritious lyrics with the numbing appeal of the mainstream.

Call it Score-Hop-- only the sentiment doesn't match the performer, particularly for a rapper blowing up because he wrote a deft song about skateboarding. He also blogs, loves anime, and collects toys. Not exactly the stuff of Tolstoy.

In short, we have a staunchly conscious emcee saddled with some incongruous beats and lukewarm hooks.

Amazing album! Hip Hop at it's best, I havent been this satisfied with :urban" music in years, too bad he isnt the "public" wants. He's amazing, if people would just stop and listen to his deep lyrics and get lost in his beats! You have every issue the the inner city minorities can relate to! |

This album is a classic. On the same level as Ready to Die and Illmatic. No lyrical flaws. Every single song has a message. Like Kick Push, it is not a skateboard song. It real meaning is for the guy. He is "kicking" and "pushing" his way out of the ghetto. Lupe is a lyrical genius. |

We've been missing true hiphop like this. No disrespect to the Roots, Common, Talib, or Mos, but Lupe is the new breed of MC. Immaculate lyricism, impecable storytelling, make this album hard for hiphop fans not to like. Hell, I like it more than Devils Advocate and Kingdom Come. |

This is a pure, make you stop and think about everything happening around you album. And the reason people aren't buying it is because Wasalu isn't like all the other so called "rappers" out there. He's not talking about money, murder, sex and bling. And its unfortunate but people like that. Let's just pray he stays true to himself and keep what hip hop is really about alive. Much respect to Wasalu. |

The best rap / hip hop album since 'The Fix' by Scarface. This album is a must have, like Outkast's Southernplayalistic and Nas' Illmatic. Very vivid storytellin, but from the eyes of a most talented individual, Lupe Fiasco.....I hope this is the start of commercialism's ending. |

By far the best hip hop album of 2006. From the childhood testimony in He Say, She Say, to the outstanding picture he paints of present and past day America in American Terroist and Daydream, this album is the best debut from a hihphop artist in a long time |

Lupe Fiasco is hot on dis CD peeps. He brings that whole Revolutionist appeal to the rap world and he brings one thing that only few rappers can bring....*INDIVIDUALITY* He wasn't afraid to lay it all on the line in the studio to bring an universal message to the music world. Love it! |

The first portion of the album seems a bit forced to me, but still he is an amazing lyricist. I still give him a 10 because even if that portion was forced it was exellent and the rest is even better. definatly a breath of fresh air and talent to the steadily shallowing rap/ hip hop industry |

When it's all said and done, Lupe Fiasco will be one of the greatest to ever step in the booth. I ain't been this inspired since TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR. Lupe's creative, knowledgable and mostly he's himself. We are living in times where people are so caught up in pleasing individuals and will sell their souls in the process. All this money, cars, video chic shit is old news. Lupe appear to fit that mold the least bit. Duke is a real humble cat. Yet, his rhymes are tight enough to where he could act like his shit don't stank. Food & Liquor is a INSTANT CLASSIC. His mixtapes are must haves. "Conflict Diamonds", "Glory" and "Steady Mobbin'" are a few songs that u need to study. There so potent. His music is potent enough to wake the livin' dead. My lil' brother knows the lyrics to "The Instrumental" and he's 7! I'm proud of that. He's artistic and maybe he could become a Lupe himself someday. Lupe STAY TRUE to u KING. As long as u don't lose that passion and sense of direction SOUTH CENTRAL got u.... PEACE TO ALL |

Lupe Fiasco has a God Given Gift to strum along words in a rhytmic pattern that makes your mind flow. His street swagger along with harmonious beats puts hip hop on an intellectual level that it never could reach without his contribution. Lupe Fiasco's music is indeed the perfect definition of Hip Hop. |
