The songs are perfectly good, if not persistently memorable. In other words, it won't mandate a calendar to mark the days until the full-length, but the list of bands to keep an eye on just got one name longer.

It's a full-bodied solution that enjoys the bottom-layer density (courtesy of a muscular rhythm section) and top-layer effervescence (represented by fizzy bursts of guitar) of a well-poured glass of beer, and its physical effects are just as reliable.

It's like coiled barbed wire, all twitchy, clamped down guitars, rampaging bass lines and clattery, claustrophobic drumming.

The band do manage to keep the snappy momentum throughout, though, so if for nothing else, it's a decent disc to throw on and bop around the kitchen to if you need a jolt of mindless pop.

This band is currently touring with Ted Leo & the Pharmacists. They are the opening act and let me just say that this band is awful. Where is the originality here? Also how the hell did they get signed to matador records? I thought they actually knew what originality and what music was meant to be. I guess I was wrong. Anyhow, this band has no energy, no originality. The female vocalist in my opinion should be kicked out and then the actual composition of these songs should be refined. Everything just sounds jumbled in a way that is just not appealing. Don't buy this album, don't go to their shows, its a waste of time. |
