It can be the most beautiful album in the world.  Full text...

Basically, Mew has created an incredible musical experience, and you would be doing yourself a disservice to ignore it.  Full text...

Drowned in sound Rating: 9.0

A masterpiece of overstated proportions, which is the greatest concept of all.  Full text...

MusicOMH.com Rating: 8.0

It's a pretty emotionally draining listen.  Full text...

Dotmusic Rating: 8.0

"And The Glass Handed Kites" is truly a masterpiece and one that you'll keep exploring for years.  Full text...

PrefixMag Rating: 8.0

The album's first twelve songs all flow together, the transitions almost unnoticeable. It's one of the most intriguing aspects of this record.  Full text...

Virgin Rating: 8.0

Imagine if Tool got together with the Pet Shop Boys and wrote'n'recorded an album. The end result probably wouldn't sound a million miles from this utterly glorious record.  Full text...

RockReviews.org Rating: 8.0

The music on "And the Glass Handed Kites" flows effortlessly forwards, but unfortunately there isn't much for the listener to grasp in terms of memorable sections (the music doesn't exactly fall to the category of easy listening).  Full text...

Popmatters Rating: 7.0

We have all the hallmarks of a good prog record here: the rhythms are often reliant on non-traditional time signatures, songs fade in and out or run together instead of stopping and starting, and even the cover art seems ludicrously over-the-top in its inherent cheesiness.  Full text...

InsidePulse Rating: 7.0

Full of surprises, Mew's sophomore album contains many touchstones of art rock and emo, but doesn't fully indulge, creating an engaging blend or driving, orchestrated rock.  Full text...

BBC 6 Music Rating: 6.0

The album is weird. Each song flows into the next but the record is saved from being disastrously samey by distinctive and catchy melodies.  Full text...

Gigwise Rating: 6.0

There is certainly enough here to demand repeated listens, the orchestral grandeur found in so many of the songs giving enough reason to persevere. You are definitely left with the feeling that this is likely to be a rewarding experience.  Full text...

Playlouder Rating: 5.0

The Mew sound as a whole is expansive and ambitious and at times manages to sound almost vital. The brief 'Fox Cub' emerges gently and eerily before it is sucked into 'Apocalypso', while the plodding verses of 'The Zookeeper's Boy' propel a subtle but engrossing melody.   Full text...

CokeMachineGlow Rating: 4.0

The band does have the musical ability, their songs are reasonably well constructed, and the melodies are there. It’s only the ridiculous costume of importance they wear so self-consciously that’ll keep them from ever joining the party.   Full text...

JONAS I am everywhere to say: MEW Rocks!!! Please guys... I like 'The zookeeper's boy' because the melody is nice to listen to... They have the right keys and Bo's voice kills me... I love it... Jonas' voice suites better actually because it is very Child-like... I love him fornot only that... He has a good heart too!!!

These guys really know how to mix every little sound they incorporate. Ethereal voices and strong sounds. Simply amazing.
