Totally radical. Okay, there's a bit of been-there, done-that, but since it's a nice place to be, who's complaining?

Not quite as immediate as it's precursor, perhaps, and most certainly a total Nouvelle-ty, but still - Nouvelle Vague are definitely a Band Apart.

While this album is very similar to the debut, it still stands out on its own. If you are a newcomer to Nouvelle Vague, or if you wanted to dismiss them thinking that they were just a one off, check out this record.

Where the first record's subdued, sighing performances often meant the source material didn't fully reveal itself until the chorus hit, Bande a Part's garish rendition of Billy Idol's "Dancing with Myself" sounds like a show tune from some failed Post-Punk: The Musical! production, while the staid version of Blondie's "Heart of Glass" is far more Tracy Chapman than Astrud Gilberto.

Bande a Part just sounds like an uninspired rehash of Nouvelle Vague.
