Paula Frazer's voice is sublime and she uses it to beautiful effect on this CD. The only reason I didn't give her a 9 is because I don't absolutely like every song, but there are some, like August Song, Sleeping Dreams and First Song, that I have listened to over and over becaue they're so well sung and orchestrated, and because the lyrics are very meaningful. I have to disagree with those who say her voice is distracting or that none of the songs are memorable - as some professional critics have said too. I honestly don't know what they're complaining about. If you liked Paula's previous CDs, like Leave the Sad Things Behind, you'll like this one too. In fact, I've been wondering what a team of her and Brandi Carlile might do in a duet. Wouldn't that be a song to remember?! |
