Pagoda certainly owes a lot to its predecessors, but isn't so indebted it can't step out of their shadow. Better call Hollywood and tender Pitt's resignation; he's in the wrong field.

The overall approach to the album is very cohesive and ubiquitous. It's artsy enough to perk and retain interest on Velvet Underground-esque tracks like "I Do," yet the rock constructions of tracks like "Lesson Learned" can appeal to almost anyone. Even classical cellists.
