Prodigy indulges in the style of Murda Muzik and Infamy (the parts that were good), almost exclusively using violence, revenge and paranoia as his muses, keeping a stone face during his most hysterical rhymes (“Might treat myself to a nice Ferrari for the winter / Gate my whole crib up: do not enter”).

It's not just that P sounds excited to be rapping again, although that would be enough. It's how comfortable he is working with the Alchemist, flipping out over scratchy Blaxploitation soul samples (see below) instead of Scarface retreads or out-of-place club tracks.

Return Of The Mac is really a respectable effort. Prodigy and ALC obviously make a dangerous team in the studio but pigeonhole themselves with an at times repetitive project.

Generic is really the key word here as P does very little on his end to keep things from completely boring. ALC is really the only reason this album deserves any burn, he chops and arranges a slew of classic samples (and most definitely uncleared), like a true NYC vet. It is too bad Prodigy couldn’t keep it quite as thorough.
