This is a valuable record from a troubling and potentially vital new voice: what this record achieves, and what he is then able to do afterwards with whatever success it brings, are pressing, urgent questions.

What a breathtaking album! On first listen it's quite catchy and deeply depressing. On second listen it has loads of clever lyrics, catchy rhymes and instantly likeable songs. On third listen you won't be able to turn it off it's so good. Who Needs Actions When You Got Words should not be descibed as another UK Hip Hop album as it's much more than that. He may use brash, shocking lyrics but don't let it put you off. This talented young man sets himself apart from those other rappers with his inventive sampling, compelling real life stories, brutally intelligent rapping, and his truely resounding vocals; all accompanied by his accoustic guitar. This guy is a true individual who has made an amazing album well worthy of a listen or 14. (Fav tracks: No Good, Mama, Missing Links, Who Needs Actions.) |
