Spektor remains, for the most part, sympathetic to her subjects, and even in its darkest moments, a humane glow envelops the album, which takes her already-arresting sound and expands it to widescreen.

With a new album of expertly-crafted, touching, and refreshingly honest odes to life, Regina Spektor has grown without growing away from what makes her so special. Irreverent and innocent, theatrical and tender, cataclysmic and cute: human.

Her vocal quirks can take some getting used to, but the oblique melodies and cosmic lyrics in songs such as "On the Radio" and "20 Years of Snow" demonstrate what a remarkable talent is mixed in with all the idiosyncrasies.

Her arrangements are inspired and ambitious and the melodies of songs like the wrenching "Samson" are classic yet startling original.

Her third full-length and first recorded under her major-label contract, the record was produced by Dave Kahne, who has turned knobs for the Bangles, Paul McCartney, and, um, Sugar Ray.

She’s from Russia, with tales tall and tawdry, peculiar arrangements and serious ivory–tickling skills.

Less miserable than Fiona Apple, less wacky than Nellie McKay and less hippieish than Tori Amos, Spektor shows off her gorgeous, fluttery voice, her burgeoning writer chops and her God-given quirks on her second disc, Begin to Hope.

Regina Spektor is one of the most hip artists out there. She's way better than Fiona Apple in my opinion. Regina rocks and shows emotions that we all go through. |

Regina is amazing. I cannot think of any word that aptly describes just how she makes your goosebumps cry and your hair tingle. Her original vocal abilities outdo any run of the mill Mariah Carey. She can belt and whisper emotion at the same time, while creating this moving artform of her own. She is her own kind of music, so suck on that Mariah. |

Words can't really describe the music that flows from the lips and fingers of Regina Spektor. Songs such as Samson and Fidelity simply rip the soul apart and got me to the point of tears. |

The intensity of her voice and the way she describes some of the simplest of emotions through such complex lyrics makes her, in my opinion, one of the few original artists out there right now. |

I only recently discovered Regina Spektor and can honestly say that her music has contributed to a turning point in my life. She takes personal expression to another level whereby one can interpret and believe their own truth in her entanglement of images and words that are ever so beautiful. |

Regina Spektor has come a long way from the streets of New York. Her songs are well written and beautifully displayed. I recently bought her CD and while listening I noticed how different each of her songs were. Some of her songs even had their own sound like Fidelity. The sounds of the instruments in that song always overwhelms me and I always notice something different. This is a very talented girl with different cultural backgrounds. I love her music and can't wait to hear more from her. She is truly an original artist and you won't find anyone else like her out there. |

This CD is amazing, and if you haven't already, I strongly urge you to go out and buy it. All of her songs are great, and the best part is that they are all different. None of them sound exactly the same, like most artists these days. I think the best part is her crazy Russian accent. These songs are just fun to listen to, and you won't be able to stop. Kudos to you, Regina. |

Good Album. But not anything like her other albums- not as raw- clearly made for a main-stream audience. That said the Bonus tracks are amazing! |

Regina is a great artist, and this is the type of C.D. in which I memorize the lyrics to every song, and I sing along with it every day after school. She is needed in a world where "good music" is considered to be Justin Timberlake. She definately deserves to win Grammys! |

Although i have just started listening to Regina, she had me from the start. I was first introduced to her through Fidelity, and then got into some more of her music. Her voice shines, and is very emotional. I would love to hear her live, Im sure it would be amazing. |
