As with most Benson-produced albums, Five Score and Seven Years Ago hits hard and fast in all the right places, with quality tone. "I Need You" is one of the speediest numbers we have heard from the band. Matt Thiessen delivers his message with impassioned urgency as Dave Douglas prominently backs him up. One noticeably different factor on this record is Douglas' contribution; drum parts are considerably fuller than on previous records, giving the band more of an "epic" musically.

This CD is not chucked full of their puns. Though, be guaranteed, Relient K has not lost their quirky sense of humor.

Relient K find themselves relying heavily on larger hooks than their pop predecessor mmhmm, and improve their sound in the process. Dangerous shifts in tone and the clumsy lyric bring it down, but it's still a hint at better things to come.

AMAZING...the drums are incredible, and the lyrics are intangibly creative and ironic-with a strong message of faith, perserverance, and love |

First few listens I was luke warm on it - but after a few spins I gotta say I think its probably right up there with their best work. I feel that their message is superbly delivered on this disk. |

I absolutely love this album. It is one of the few albums i own where i love every single track. "Deathbed" is a beautiful and incredibly original song. It sends a message without being preachy. LOVE IT! |

I have to say...this is probably the best album of all of theirs. Gives a positive message but yet not all like worship with the fun it has in its songs. i totally love it! |

Man, this album is definitely awesome. They've grown so much since their first album, and I love that there's more piano. "Forgiven" is one of my fave tracks, but the stand-out is definitely "deathbed". It's such a beautiful, emotional song, but also gives you a sense of hope. RK rocks. |

I'd say this is Relient K's second best album behind mmhmm. "Come Right Out And Say It", "Forgiven", "Devastation and Reform", "Faking My Own Suicide", and "Deathbed" are the best tracks. |

This new album is fantastic. They have a great message that is clear through the words to these songs. I love how they have such a variety in their songs, from "Deathbed" which is beautiful to "Plead the Fifth" with it's amazing A Cappella. |

Such a good CD... I really like the sound of "I Need You" it shows the vulnerablity and humbleness of the writer and his need of God. The message is really good without being outright in your face about Christianity |

I have loved Relient K since i first heard "Pressing On". They are really as good as any secular band of their style, and better than any other christian band like them, Hawk Nelson is really good. I seriously want to know where their inspiration was for "Deathbed" because that song is so amazing and real its indescribable. they got back to God on this album, i was getting worried after "MMHMM" which is a good album, but didnt show too much influence from God. Good Job guys |

This record...is a WOW. My goodness, no other lyrics make my heart beat out of my chest like these. And no sound makes me scream out these words like they are my own. Not every song is like this though, but all the songs are good. Relient K ROCKS! |

If i could, i would give this album a rating of 12.7 but it only goes up to 10. But this album just BLEW me away. It is probably the best record that Relient K has released. I love it. I like it how they use their music to spread the message of Christ, but it isnt like a total Christian bands, and they have a variety of music for each song. Some of my favorite and the best songs on this record are probably "Must Have Done Something Right", "Come Right Out and Say It", "The Best Thing", "Give Until There's Nothing Left", "Faking My Own Suicide", but my absolute favorite is "Deathbed". The song "Deathbed" is great, it is such a beautiful song and it has a great message, and it is so emotional and it makes you feel that there is actually a way to get through things and it gives you hope. This is the best Relient K album ever. <3 tori |

Um, the Sputnik review is a 3/5, which is definitely a 6.0, not an 8.0. Whoever put that in here is trying to make this sound like it's better than it is. It's not that good, and the reviewer obviously doesn't think so. |

THE best Relient K CD to date. They didn't overdo the silly songs or pointless messages, mastered the sound, mixed up the fast pace of "I Need You" with the "Deathbed" ballad. No need to skip songs with this one, just slip it in the stereo and turn up the volume. I've been to 2 of their concerts and have heard lots of their songs, and this cd def takes it home. |

this CD upset me. I listened to this and compared it to their second CD, Relient K, and I enjoyed the second a lot better..they were more of a Christian band. But I still enjoy their CD's now |
