If I must compare it to other albums tool made I’d say it comes pretty close to Salival, perhaps a bit like the long Pushit version on the album. It’s actually a whole new sound for them.  Full text...

A very strong contender for album of the year!  Full text...

Stretches of drifting psychedelic rock ("10,000 Days [Wings Part 2]") punctuated with short, sharp bursts of mayhem ("Jambi") and lots of absurd lyrics.  Full text...

Listening to this album, you get the sinking feeling that Tool have made an art-rock, rather than art-metal, album. And yes, the difference is considerable.  Full text...

Today they call it “Progressive,” which means they’re focusing on the artistic goal (“enlightenment,” “spirituality,” “smoking out”), not necessarily the means. But just because they tell you it’ll grow flowers doesn’t mean they’re not selling you shit.   Full text...

Mick Rating: 10.0

One of their great accomplishments !! I love Tool and hope they keep it going !! Such a great album, if you don't have it get it !!

Caanage Rating: 9.0

Tool as a band have been progressively changing their sound through all of their albums. The more albums they do... the sharper their sound becomes. On a personal level, every album speaks volumes of wisdom and spiritual suggestions. in particular Lateralus and this one. With song like Rosetta stoned, Right in two and the Wings for marie saga, I believe this album speaks very clearly and beautifully the message that tool have been delivering for over a decade now. This is one of the most beautiful albums if ever heard.

Daniel Rating: 9.0

Really good album... although seems ligher than others. In my opinion it's hard to top Anemia and Lateralus

Tarek Rating: 9.0

A very good addition to anyones tool collection. Different than previous albums but that is to be expected as music evolves with society. It is a marvel to listen to as it better depicts emotion sometimes better than previous albums. A beautiful example of that is the wings for marie saga. However the best thing one can do is to put all other albums out of mind when reviewing this one. 10 000 days seems much worse when compared to Aenima or Lateralis. I see this album being the one to beat for album of the year.

This Guy Rating: 10.0

very good album indeed...

layne Rating: 10.0

Tool has evolved immensely since opiate. This record is the height of their evolution. It blends emotion and sounds like ive never heard, truly unbelievable

Kenzo Rating: 10.0

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!

mary ann Rating: 8.0

album is great, but i think lateralus and aenima was much better...
but tool is the best band ever!!!

flipper Rating: 9.0

Every time a new Tool Cd comes out i think its worse than the last until i listen to it a handful of times. This one is no exception. Keep listening and you will find the 10,000 Days is yet another awsesome Tool effort.

Ben Rating: 10.0

Tool is no diffent than any other band, its impossible to play the same style over years and years of music making. Because of this, you have to consider every album in its own light. Of couse theres theres signiture dark sound and funky time signitures and riffs, but really, each album put out is its own creation. Because of this, 10,000 days will always be near the front of my cd book

Phill Rating: 9.0

This album is mind-blowing. It may not be their best but it is a great addition to anyone's Tool collection. It is very emotional and and flat out beautiful in all aspects. It also keeps the pschadelic sound to it with songs like Rosetta Stoned. It also shows that little bit of darkness that Tool shows in the rest of their albums. Maynard mentions death and just about every song. And if you think there was five years of work put into this album, think again. There was just over a year's work put into this one. I think their next album will be great.

TimBone Rating: 10.0

Try comparing this one to Nickelback's new one, or how about Disturbed, or even Godsmack 4, nope, not much of a comparison is there..... Tool is the shit, and 10,000 days is just another example. Look with your 3rd eye open!

ALci Rating: 10.0

this album was really good, even though its not as hardcore as Lateralus, it was beautiful, their songs are soothing and hardcore, with the awesome lyrics, yea i cant wait til the next album, but the better put harcore and soft

Evan Rating: 9.0

It\'s ridiculous to talk about how good this album in to comparison others, tool fans should know just as well as anyone, that true art is not better nor worse, only different. And that’s exactly what Tool\'s music is. Elegant and meaningful lyrics, sculpted together by true musicians come across in only but a few bands in the most recent generations, for example Tool’s music. Listeners should be more worried about how they interpret the music on their own accord, not by reading some rating on a random third-rate website.

United Atheist of America Rating: 8.0

Some bands have a new cd and it sucks, it sounds totally different. But 10,000 days pure Tool. We love Tool because they are so open minded. But I do like Aenima better.

Kevin Rating: 10.0

This is the most kick ass album i have. Listening to the Wings for Marie saga puts me into a trance that no other song can even compare. This cd is on a complete new level that no other band can compete with. This is not music for the light listener. this stuff is deep.

IntoTheSun Rating: 10.0

Simply the best.. no other band compares to Tool. never has, never will.! 6th album and probably more to come... I can't wait for the next!

The Toolman RamZ Rating: 10.0

This album shocked the hell out of me. I was listening to all the old stuff the day before i got 10000 Days. The change is remarkable! Maynard's break, going off with A Perfect Circle was definitly worth it. Both that APC is the shit! and that his vocals on 10000 Days have just become so soul moving. Vicarious is the new Schism? I think not, it is in its own league, having one of my favorite basslines. Jambi was very new to my Tool ears, the solo is great, and makes it stand out from the other songs. The song 10000 Days even made me cry it sounded so beautiful and the whole atmosphere around Judith's grave. The Pot.... nuf' said, nah lol, I had chills going through me the whole time i listened to it, and it brought back memories of Opiate because of the entrance. The Pot's bassline is unbelievable. Rosetta Stoned-- Is when Tool makes a ballad, I love the references to things like E.T and Jackie Chan and that stuff... which answers the question. Does Tool's band member's have lives? haha. It took me a while to get use to it, but now i love Intension. Intension is a very beautiful song, mid-way during the song when its just the electric guitar then the others start coming in has to be my favorite part of the album because it takes me back to Undertow. Right In Two is a great way to end the album, It brings back a mood of songs like The Patient and Reflection. Tool is my favorite band of all time. This album shows why so many bands list Tool as their influence. Who really cares what critics say, if you liked all the other Tool CDs you will love this CD, unless your one of those assholes who dont like too big of a change haha. Tool really showed their veteranship on this album and it is really a cliff hanger for the next album. May Tool live on, hopefully for 10000 Days :D. I would give it an 11/10, but i cant find the 11. lol.

larry Rating: 10.0

i have listened to tool since their birth. the albums keep getting better and better. but you really have to listento the lyrics of maynard's songs to really understand them. like prison sex for instances trapped and screwed by the governments as they just push us down and laugh. listen and learn what tool is really saying. time to whip out the tool.

Nick Rating: 10.0

You can hear the APC influences in the music, but not at one point in the album does it not sound like a Tool album. A great listen for anyone. The lyrics to "Vicarious" and "10,000 Days (Wings part 2)" are amazing, powerful and so very true at the same time.

En1gMat1c Rating: 10.0

10000 days was almost an album that eluded a reason for its creation. i loved and learned every song, but i knew that this work of art had some other, deeper meaning. im still not sure if they wrote this entire thing for Marie, but its like it tells a story, or of a journey. 10000 days is possibly the most beautiful, most heart felt album out there right now. currently my favorite album, before LPs reanimation

Rob Rating: 10.0

This album hasn't been out of my changer since it was released. The more I listen to it, the more I love it. I have no favorite Tool album, to me each album is an extention of the last. This may or may not make any sense, but the evolution reminds me of Metallica, Killem All thru AJFA, I just hope Tool never has a Black album. lol

Andrew Rating: 10.0

This album is bad ass, this is my favorite album of theirs, and my probably my favorite album in general for now, Jambi and 10,000 days wings for marie pt2 are my favorites.

Jeff Rating: 10.0

This album took me back to my "Floyd days" It is a perfect blend of past and present.

What makes it for me is the long 70's style instrumentals and the driving bass lines.

Tool plays as a leader above the mediocre trash that most call music.

Harry Manback Rating: 10.0

This Album might be the most filling Album, ever.
It's like a seven course meal w/ a happy ending to boot. Listening to the words!! Maynard's a genuis.

big hicks Rating: 9.0

great album, i think that some songs on the album sounds like undertow almost. it has the wierd songs also that any tool fan will love. thay get better and better each time you listen to them. i think it is a soild album, good job guys.

Josh Phillips Rating: 9.0

TOOL is a band that, when compared to other bands within the same era, is not comparable to any other band. They are in their own genre, their own category of music all together, if you will, and when this is considered-a rating means nothing. They can not be rated, graded or critqued in any way because unless you ARE Tool, you can not say what their vison was or is and subsequently can not say whether or not it is a success or a failure in music history. One can only say whether or not they themselves enjoy or do not enjoy an album. No one can say if an album is truly a "good" or "bad" attempt, it is only the artists vision. I give it a 9 only because a 10 is perfect and nothing is perfect, but I do highly enjoy this album.

Mehfield Rating: 10.0

this album was big shock for me.it's very very great album same other albumes from TOOL

conor Rating: 10.0

i heard the pot on the radio, loved it, went out and bought the cd and loved the entire thing. tool is really all i listen to now, including all the older albums. :-)

Dave Rating: 9.0

AMAZING! What else could you expect from Tool. I love this album, the best part about it is Wings for Marie (both parts). I give it a 9 because I still think Lateralus is the best album of all time.

I Rating: 7.0

Even if it's a good tool album, don't have to give them 10/10. I liked old albums better, but at least they explored and tried new stuff. I wish that this is not the beginning of Tool as a pop band, they played on radio =/ ...

Jered Rating: 10.0

Best album i ever heard...Tool is one of the best bands today.

Zach Rating: 10.0

this album rokks! This album is my most favorite album in my lfe.I give this a 10 b-cuz They make the electtronics perfect and the best song on the album is "The Pot" and Jambi.

Cel C Rating: 10.0

Tool is the greatest band ever!! They are so incredibly creative with the sounds of music and the lyrics to their songs. This album was awesome.

Pablo Plebes Rating: 8.0

I formerly rated this album lower because i thought it sounded alot like the village people, until i found out that my so called friend labeled the cd's wrong. I am mostly just embarrassed that i gave the village people an entire 2 rating, but you have to understand that I really like tool and I was just trying to be a little supportive of any creative changes they may be enduring.

some douchebag nobody likes Rating: 8.0

Songs like Vicarious, Jambi, 10,000 Days, Rosetta Stoned and Right In Two add to Tool's already impressive repertoire. However, the lack of organization 10,000 Days may drive some devoted Tool fans away from this new sound.

tom Rating: 7.0

i read a bunch of reviews. its seems that alot of you people just became tool fans w/ lateralus. I have to say that undertoe is by far there best album, in fact in order its undertoe, opiate, then lateralus, aenima, and now 10,000 days. The only way i can discribe this album is, pink floyd meets heavy metal. its an absolute stoner, trippy, psycadellic ride. my first listen threw the album i was deffinetly unsatisfied. i was expecting some hardcore stuff, the old tool, the tool that just went nuts. instead i got this artsy-fartsy stuff. but im not going to lie, im a huge stoner, and after listening to the album a couple times, it deffinetly grew on me. its not classic tool, its brand spankin new, and theres no way they sold out, its just something you have to get use to and get past. it was with out a doubt worth the wait, i just hope there next album is a little more...well toolish

Tim Rating: 9.0

Without a doubt the best album of 2006. I've been a Tool fan since Aenima, and while I hold both Aenima and Lateralus in high regard, this is a fair addition to the bunch. It's not an album that you can easily digest, none of Tool's albums are. Is it better than Lateralus or Aenima? Heaven's no. But it is amazing. And songs like Jambi, and the Wings for Marie duo are the reason I love this band. Jambi is without a doubt one of the best pure rock songs I've heard in a long time (since...well...Lateralus). Excellent album, it loses points for the construction, I'm a little bit underhwhelmed by Rosetta Stoned, and the two segue tracks are garbage. Lipan Conjuring is okay, but viginti tres is pointless, and I wish they wouldn't put segues like that at the END of the album. Faaip de Oaid was like that, and its annoying.

But back to basics, this is an outstanding album (regardless of the segues). I don't know what "classic tool" is, because none of their albums sound the same. I quote MJK himself when asked about the change of the band "at first we had to scream to get peoples attention, but to keep it you need to whisper."

YYYYYY Rating: 6.0

Not my favorite Tool CD but maybe it's cause I'm not a stoner. Maybe if I was I could really listen to this. I love the old Tool. UNDERTOW and AENIMA are my favorite then Laterus. However 10,000 doesn't do it for me as much. Another thing is I hate Perfect Circle.

Michael Rating: 2.0

This was the worst Tool album ever. I only liked one song, and even then it was lackluster. The constant "evolving" that Tool is supposedly undergoing is BS. They're so different that it doesn't seem like Tool anymore. It never seemed like Tool. All of their albums are so completely different that it's difficult to be a Tool fan. My loyalty ends with Aenima. Sorry Tool, but you're just annoying me now.

Rob Rating: 10.0

This is the first tool album i've heard, which is probably pretty stupid but ahh well. I think that the album is really good. I can't stop bumming 10,000 days (wings part 2), its such an amazing song. I've heard a bit of their older stuff aswell and i can see that there is a difference but to be honest you can still tell its tool. Now I've just got to get pissed off at the fact my mates going to see them and i'm not. Ahh well, i'll see them eventually. and anyone who is saying this album is shit, is a chav.

Lalalalala Rating: 10.0

Great album! Can't remember what the other albums sounded like but I know lateralus like the back of my hand! It has great APC influence, and mixed with the Tool music is just awesome!!!

David (Sydney Aust) Rating: 10.0

This Album has been out for some time now (May 07).
To me, and I would argue this, this album for its total contents (Music and Words) and it's diversity and meaning is very possibly the "GREATEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME"

PortlandTommy Rating: 8.0

Hmmm, Well. Alot said about this band on this site, and I am not sure what some of you are saying, at all.
A fan since Aenima? That makes you an expert? 'I just bought this album and I know everything about them."

Whatever. 10,000 days is a good album. But not even close to being 'the greatest album of all time.' I have been a fan of this band since before Opiate came out. The only thing I can say is, 10k days is good, but nowhere near as good as Aenima is. Lateralus is better. Until you can quote the lyrics of any Tool song without the help of the music any around, you arent a decent Tool fan.

BTW< They broke off from Ozzfest #1 to do a show in Toledo, Oh. How powerful. Beautiful. Amazing.
Seen three times in concert. Ohio, Gorge Amphitheater in Oregon, and Street Scene in San Diego. Awesome.

Hadalie Rating: 9.0

10000 days is definatly a differant Tool since Aenima and even undertow. This album is not my favorite but its growing on me. The more I listen, the more I appreciate it. Wings I and II are emotionally overwhemling. Saw them live on the 10000 days tour in GA. Awesome show. I have a feeling tool will keep rockin for years to come. Spiral out...

Fred Rating: 9.0

a try for an english translation down.

As someone said before me, nothing is perfect so it's a 9. But wow, this is an album and a band it seems made to please my imagination, my ear. Everything they make is near perfection.

Most people see them as progressive rock married with metal, but i have to add art to this duo. its pure joy.

that one guy #4 Rating: 10.0

This album gets a ten b/c no other band even compares to the artistist ability of Tool. You just don't see anymore bands with guitar solos near a minute and a half. Most other music is so fast-paced, it's nice that there is still a band out there that can stretch out their songs to six minutes plus and still keep the attention of the listener. Tool is without a doubt the best band of our generation in all genres.

PJK Rating: 9.0

Classic Tool, just a little more polished. Just as good as earlier releases.

Adrift At Peace Rating: 10.0

The album gets a 10, because MJK use's deep emotion in this album. Like "Wings for Marie" And "Wings P2" Which is about him mother. It also has many views on the world, which makes it more originol compared to Maynards other songs.
