At 16 minutes, A Lesson in Crime offers little more than a quick, fizzy rush, but does so in beguiling style, with rangy guitar lines, a bruising rhythm section, and a singer who sounds not unlike the Strokes' Julian Casablancas, minus the upper-class ennui. We can hardly wait for the full-length.

Things to like about "Citizens of Tomorrow": The clever, catchy and stuttering mini-solo. The relentless drums. Fun yelling. Lyrics about robots blowing you apart in front of your loved ones if you try to escape. Be forewarned!

Their debut EP has no fat on its bones, from the moment David Monks opens "Cheer It On" with the shout "Operator, get me the president of the world -- this is an emergency!" "Nature of the Experiment" actually seems to have a fairly intelligent and, indeed, heart-tugging lyric ("It's my impeccable disorder/Where I keep on falling for her").

The fact is TPC is a solid band even if all of their sounds aren't all unique. And it seems as though Canada is listening to them with the band getting top billing on the Top 50 college chart.
