Timbaland may still end up claiming 2007 as his own, but Shock Value will only be backing evidence, rather than the landmark album that propelled his name to the top of the pop world.

When you're an auteur, your sound is, by definition, distinct and, thus, your range is often limited. Shock Value recycles many of the same beats, melodies, and other sonic ideas that were used (better and most recently, with help from co-producer Danja) on Timberlake's album.

As bad as this album is, it's not offensive enough to worry about for too long; if its contents were split up into 17 singles and B-sides and one-shots and scattered across the charts for 15 months, it'd hardly be worth worrying about.

Shock Value is an incredible album. i don't know what people expect out of music and artists. they complain hip hop is senseless and rap about violence, then we do uplifting songs and win grammys for it. then they say hip hop just steals from other artists music, then timbaland does some space age sounding, electronic beats and collaborates with many rock acts and makes good songs and you give his album anything less than a 7 is a shame. he's the best producer in hip hop and if he wanted to, he can take over the pop charts, give respect where its due. |

This album is sooo good. Its different and he does different genre. He is so talented. If your looking for something fresh and unique...you need to get this album..and for those who think its wack doesn't appreciate good music when they hear it..haters..lol |

I have to say that this album is as fabulous as Timbaland himself. Love almost every single beat, with a bit surprising tracks as ONE & ONLY,
beautiful TIME or APPOLOGIZE. Perfect. Tracks with JT are hot as well but we already know theyre good pals when it comes to music. And hot BOUNCE with Missy is hope next big hit...

I was given this album for free and I paid too much. This was the most godawful crap that I have ever heard. He is a great producer, but should not be behind the mike. Out of 19 songs only 4 are good. Heaven help the music! |
