It's a rawer sound than their previous releases, with titles like "When Planets Collide", "From The Devil Himself" and "We Do Not Fuck Around" giving some idea of the apocalyptic themes investigated; but these tougher moments are balanced by the affirmative attitude of "Special Thing" and "How To Nurse A Bruised Ego", and "Bill Bixby", which soothes the ear like the palate-freshening sorbet between the courses of a meal.

The old two-chord trick is skilfully disguised with some deft arrangements and there are several great tunes, especially the epic So Many Miles and the pounding Faster than a Dead Horse. Recommended.

Viva Voce displays a preponderance of skill and know-how with their solid, rhythmic style — and though it seems an album primarily composed of tracks equally paced (but don't fear, there is certainly the requisite variation in both pacing and sonic style), would grow tiring, Viva Voce proves this is certainly not the case, at least with Get Yr Blood Sucked Out.
