On I Believe in You, Your Magic Is Real, Bechtolt appears to have remembered the MBGATE lesson that home computer music and poppy fun need not be mutually exclusive entities, freeing himself to produce an album that strives for, and fleetingly reaches, the unpredictable yet lovable heights of its ancestor.

For Jona Bechtolt, genre distinctions are a drag. His third album -- the affirmingly titled I Believe in You. Your Magic Is Real. -- is an epic for the attention-deficit set, sucking radio-ready hip-hop, glitchy laptop production, '80s synth pop and grunge into a black hole called Yacht. It's a fiercely inclusive approach to making music, in which nearly every style charts in Bechtolt's vision: the sonic equivalent of a shrugging "It's all good."

Bechtolt's got our attention manning the production side of The Blow, and he's not going to let us down now that our attention might spill over to Yacht. And his more than just a mere producer. He's a songwriter to boot, as I Believe in You proves.
